Michelle and Josh work together at Josh’s parents electrical company, taking the roles of project manager and office manager.
Their colourful ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Fernbank Farm at Wyong Creek, boasting a beautiful homestead and 25 acres of garden - perfect for an elegant outdoor garden wedding.
On the proposal: M - “We spent the weekend wining and dining in the Hunter Valley staying at an amazing bungalow. On the Sunday (Michelle’s birthday), after a surprise helicopter ride over the Hunter Valley we landed for lunch at Wyndham Estate. Whilst walking through the vineyards I turned around and Josh was down on his knee.”
On the wedding day: The goal was to create a relaxing day filled with love and fun. The dream was to hold a simple outdoor ceremony, set underneath the trees, followed by a dinner under the stars. Pinterest was a pivotal tool in the wedding planning, helping source many ideas including the hanging light with florals and table decorations.
The hanging light over the long reception table was designed and hung by Josh, integrating the DIY element in to the day. Gift bags were made for each guest and left in their hotel rooms for them to enjoy after the wedding.
All the planning paid off, with both remarking that the day truly was the best of their life. Guests left excited, happy and filled with fun which was the goal. The day was full of surprises for the guests, with an ice cream truck arriving after the ceremony for a cool sweet treats, a big marquee set up for post-dinner dancing and dessert, and the love-filled gift bags.
On the meaning of marriage: “Getting to spend the rest of my life with my best friend”.
On the dress: “I bought my wedding dress from Heavenly Collections at Baulkham Hills - a Martina Liana design, ivory silk with a dipped back and lace insert train with lace neckline and straps. It took a while to find, and I had come to the conclusion wedding dresses weren’t my style. Then we decided to try Heavenly Collections. When I walked in there I found 5 dresses I loved. I then organised my bridesmaids to come back with me the following week and they helped me decide. I absolutely loved my wedding dress.”
As with any wedding there were funny and memorable moments – Michelle struggled to get the ring on Josh’s finger during the exchanging of rings, so much so that Josh ended up having to fix it. But it was all done with a laugh, because these moments add to the special feeling of the day.
Advice for those planning a wedding:
Terrace Press designed and printed both the couples wedding stationery and wooden signage. Their invitations were letterpress printed in a navy ink and gold edge paint with matching navy envelope and custom floral liner. Their wedding day stationery carried over the floral pattern from their envelope liners to tie in with the beautiful surrounding gardens. Wooden signs printed with white ink were used throughout the venue.
